Abstract

When analyzing a large volume of cases in the Judiciary, the enthusiasm for this work emerged with the aim of speeding up the processing time of these cases. In this regard, the research is based on the following question: How can the use of Artificial Intelligence assist in identifying appeals related to topics 1,085 and 1,116 of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) in Brazilian law, thereby facilitating the single-judge rulings on these appeals (art. 932, IV and V, b, CPC/2015)? What are the benefits of this mechanism? Thus, the possibility of teaching an artificial intelligence system to recognize STJ topics and be used as an auxiliary tool in the processing of cases was considered. In this context, this study was developed with the objective of training an AI, using the Orange platform, to recognize topics 1,085 and 1,116 of the STJ. In the end, we will see that although it did not reach the ideal percentage, the AI achieved the goal of recognizing the topics, making it possible, in the not-too-distant future, for it to be implemented in the Judiciary.
