Abstract

The different interactions permeated by technology have been disturbing society in social and behavioral areas, mainly modifying the interpersonal relationships existing in the personal or professional spheres. In order to identify how the use of social media in old age can impact on Autopoiesis and the structural closure of virtual relationships, a study was carried out with people of old age who participate in a group of regular studies focused on old age, for this, a qualitative research was carried out, characterized as descriptive, the choice of primary data collection instruments constituted semi-structured interviews conducted with the course participants, and in the sequence to verify the relevance of the theme, the secondary data collection was done by one from the Capes Journals Portal, as it indexes interdisciplinary content in different areas of knowledge. Based on the result of this research, it can be inferred that living beings can be considered autonomous units, that is, autopoietic. For, as much as there are disturbances, we need to be aware, and reflect on the difficulties encountered in technological developments and adaptations to the changes that occur in our body throughout life. Usually the barriers imposed are related to motor, cognitive problems, or even social and technical issues, permeated especially by the speed of disruptive innovations.
