Abstract

The productivity is concerns of the Judiciary. This study aims to identify relationships between the variables of efficiency and judiciary administration of courts, in order to establish causes for productivity, celerity and effectiveness. Applying the panel data regression technique, this work hypothesizes that there is a direct relationship between effectiveness indicators and the use of information technology. The research was carried out in three steps: (1) identification of Model Courts’, representing those with significantly above average indicators, considered to use information technology strategically; (2) construction of “Fictional” Tribunals; and (3) regression contrasting the fictional tribunals and the real ones. All three variables that personified the effectiveness indicators showed expressed results, confirming the hypothesis that there is a considerable increase in efficiency of the Tribunals composed by the Model Courts’, thus there is a positive effect of the use of a robust information technology system on judiciary effectiveness.
